Welcome to the gLINK website

The aim of the gLINK (Sustainable Green Economies through Learning, Innovation, Networking and Knowledge Exchange) project is to promote multi-disciplinary advanced research, education and professional training on sustainable green solutions through mutual collaboration and knowledge exchange between the higher education institutes (HEIs) in Europe and Asia. A number of scholarships are available from EU to Asia as well as Asia to EU.

The partnership consists of 9 European HEIs (from United Kingdom, France, Germany, Netherlands, Portugal, Romania, Hungary and Italy) and 9 HEIs from Asian countries (Cambodia, Laos, Mongolia, Vietnam, Indonesia, India, Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Thailand).

This project aims to deliver education, training, research experience and cross-fertilisation of ideas in a number of thematic areas including:

  • Business Studies and Management Science (04)
  • Education and Teacher training (05)
  • Engineering and Technology (06)
  • Medical Sciences (12)
  • Natural Sciences (13)

Through this project, a number of scholarships will be available to the talented students and staff at the to promote European HEIs as 'centres of excellence' in thinking green, teaching, research and professional practice, and to enhance the attractiveness, image, visibility and accessibility of the European higher education and research in the participanting third countries in Asia.

The project is funded by EU's Erasmus Mundus External cooperation (EMA 2) intitiative.

The aims of the project are:

  • To strengthen bt extending the existing collaboration of Asia-Europe network developed through the various existing projects with the focus on the far-east and south-east regional needs concerning sustainable and environmental friendly economic devlopment.
  • To foster new centres of excellence for the purpose of promoting quality higher education and practice among the participating HEI institutions in Asian and European countries with a distinct European value.
  • To improve education, teaching, research and management capacity in Agricultural Sciences, Architecture, Urban and Regional Planning, Business Studies and Management Science, Education and Teacher training, Engineering and Technology, Medical Sciences and Social Sciences in participating institutions.
  • To educate and train a pool of qualified men/women through mobility of talented students in Asian countries who possess necessary skill sets and international experience needed for current labour market and regional needs.
  • To elevate the visibility and attractiveness of educations and research infrastructure in EU by promoting HEIs as "centres of excellence" in participating Asian coutnries.
  • To conduct research on the most imporant issues of the participating countries, particularly the green sustainable energy systems, green communications, green urban spaces, enviornmental friendly manufacturing green, green transportation and distribution etc.
  • To promote the exchange of experience, encourage knowledge sharing/transferring, recognition of study/research programmes and reciprocal access to the HEIs in Asia and the EU.

Applications are invited for the following scholarships to the EU partner universities under EU funded gLINK project.

  • Undergraduate for 10 months (will cover return travel expenses, insurance, monthly 1000 Euro living expenses and bench fee)
  • Masters for 10 months (will cover return travel expenses, insurance, monthly 1000 Euro living expenses and bench fee)
  • PhD for 10-12 months (will cover return travel expenses, insurance, monthly 1500 Euro living expenses and bench fee)
  • Post-doc for 10 months (will cover return travel expenses, insurance, monthly 1800 Euro living expenses and bench fee - if applicable)
  • Academic staff for 1 month (will cover return travel expenses, insurance, 2500 Euro living expenses)

You must have affiliation in one of the university in Asian Lot 5 (Cambodia, Myanmar, Mongolia, Vietnam, Laos, Sri Lanka, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Maldives, Philippines, Thailand, China, North Korea) countries. Please also check the scope of study in the partner EU universities.

From EU to Asia mobility, scholarships in the following categories are available. Please note that these scholarships are only valid for Asian partners listed in Institutions.

  • Undergraduate for 4-6 months (will cover return travel expenses, insurance, monthly 1000 Euro living expenses and bench fee)
  • Masters for 4-6 months (will cover return travel expenses, insurance, monthly 1000 Euro living expenses and bench fee)
  • PhD for 6 months (will cover return travel expenses, insurance, monthly 1500 Euro living expenses and bench fee)
  • Post-doc for 6 to 10 months (will cover return travel expenses, insurance, monthly 1800 Euro living expenses and bench fee - if applicable)
  • Academic staff for 2 months (will cover return travel expenses, insurance, 2500 Euros per month living expenses)

If candidates/applicants are selected (proposed for a scholarship/fellowship, put on the reserve list or enrolled on a self-paying basis) their data may be used for the purposes of evaluating the programmes, efficiently manage the projects, and producing statistics. Data could be made available to the EACEA, the European Commission, the European External Action Service staff, as well as to other stakeholders of the Erasmus+ programme, such as Erasmus+ National Agencies, National Erasmus+ Offices and the Erasmus Mundus Student and Alumni Association.
